The "Pahk"
by Andy Hall
Located at 4 Yawkey Way, right in the heart of the great city of Boston, lies one of the most historic pieces of architecture known to all sports fans. That's right , this is the home of the Boston Red Sox baseball club. As many of you are already aware, the Red Sox could arguably be one of the best baseball teams of all time.
On any given summer night, you can expect many lifelong, die hard fans to flock to the ballpark to watch the team they know better than they'll ever know their in-laws. Bustling down the streets after forcing your way out of a packed subway tunnel, take a left go over the Mass. Pike bridge and take a left onto Yawkey hearing those famous words:
"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to Fenway Park." Read On |
Enlisting In The Marine Corps
by Zach Grant
Why, in a time of war, would a senior in high school want to enlist into the military? What benefits could one gain from joining the military instead of going to college?
I have always been the kind of guy who loves action movies and has dreamed of rescuing a wounded comrade in the heat of battle. But if that was the sole reason for me wanting to enlist in the Marine Corps, I should rethink things. Lucky for me, that's not the case. The reason why I decided to join the Marines is because I want to serve my country. Well, if I want to serve my country, why not join the Navy or the Army or even the Air Force? My answer to that is, if I'm going to join the military, why not join the best.

High School Teens and College
From all points in the process
By Tom Connolly: senior Outlet journalist
The winding down of the 2007/2008 school year finds students at different crossroads. From freshmen to juniors, and in some cases seniors, students are planning on using their summer vacation to unwind and relax before another stressful year of school begins, and the one step closer to the real world. Others, typically juniors and seniors, as well as many sophomores, use the summer as a time to make money. This represents responsibility and learning outside the classroom that most students utilize. Still, at the end of each school year there are seniors who are taking the last steps toward the real world and in some cases the final step into the real world. Read On |
What do, Condoms, Cans, CD's, and Corsets Have in Common?
By Charlie Lehmer
Well, according to Discover Magazine all of them are recycled. Each and every one of these items are recycled somewhere in the world along with many other items such as fat, sex toys, sheep-poo, deceased pets, and many others. These items aren't simply recycled either, each item is used in a unique way after being recycled.
Cans: "During Britain's 2007 Recycle Now week, svelte models strutted down Brighton beach wearing swimsuits made from steel cans."

Portable and Affordable
A mini-comparison of three mini-laptops
By Luke Senecal
With today's seemingly 24-hour workday, the demand for connectivity wherever you go is as high as ever. And with the economy the way it is, prices are much more of a concern than before. Luckily, there are companies looking out for the little guy, launching smaller and more affordable laptops. Three of these companies' (ASUS, Everex, and HP) subnotebooks, dubbed "netbooks," will be reviewed and compared in-depth in this article. Although they don't have CD drives or superior graphics, they'll do for basic use. We will start with the Taiwan-based ASUS. Read On

Real ID or Real Bad Idea?
by Sarah Baker
Personal identity ranges from individual characteristics to tangible forms of identification. Though every person possesses both, it seems that with current threats, changes, and security measures, the number of necessary forms of identification is growing exponentially. One of these soon-to-be nationally required forms is the Real ID, instated by the Real ID Act of 2005.
The Real ID Act was endorsed by the 9/11 Commission in an effort to help fight terrorism and reduce fraud. The act itself is a United States federal law that imposes new security standards for all state licenses and state identification cards, and is a rider to another terrorism-related act of the United Stated Congress. Gap Parking Lot vs. Senior Parking Lot
By Charlie Lehmer
Juniors, few sophomores, and maybe that stray freshmen, park in the Gap Parking Lot (GPL) each day. On the other hand those "privileged" seniors, among many other things, park in the special Senior Parking Lot (SPL).
The SPL has been noted as luxurious, and close to the school-unlike the GPL-for many years. It's always been taken for granted that the SPL is "better" than the GPL, but some data taken on the two lots sheds new light on the topic.
If someone was to start from the middle of the SPL and head to the office doors the way they're supposed to and with no cheating (that means not using the back door...) the distance would measure 504 feet. Starting from the middle of the GPL and to the office is only 6 feet longer (510 feet). So yes, the SPL is shorter but six feet is nothing. Read On

Nothing Better than a Nap
By Sam York
It's 1 p.m. in the afternoon; I'm ready for a nap. In our modern, bustling society it is an odd concept to lie down at the sunniest point in the day and turn our minds off for a quick hour of shut-eye. One hour of lost productivity, are you serious? It seems to me that people are too consumed in the future or the direction of their lives that they choose to neglect their health and mental necessities for things that they think will help them later on. But I ask, what about right now? In my opinion the present is the only thing that truly matters, because it is the only thing that we, as humans, can control.

Parking Restrictions
By Stephanie Bates
Finding a parking spot in general is a hard. For most schools there are designated parking lots for different people for example a teacher parking lot, a senior parking lot, and an underclassmen parking lot. In big schools each student has a ticket like thing in the window and has a designated parking spot. At Trinity Valley School in Fort Worth, Texas each student is given a pass to put in their car windows and is required to go up to a gate and speak into an intercom and has to state their first and last name and if they had left during school must state where they are coming from, then the gate is opened.
