Freeport’s One-Act Advances to New England Competition

Freeport placed a close second at the MPA One Act State Finals at Cape Elizabeth. But, Rockland’s financial situation forced them to drop out. Freeport's entry, "Conversations in a Box" written by Kevin Henthorn, should continue to impress.
The One Act Festival is an annual statewide drama competition sponsored by the Maine Drama Council and the Maine Principal's Association. The New England presentation is a well for acting scouts to pick up acting hopefuls. Read On |

American Gangster The Movie

American Gangster is set back in the 1970's during the Vietnam era. The two lead roles in the film are played by two of Hollywood's most versatile actors, Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. Frank Lucas (Washington) is a black man living in New York City during the drug years. He starts out his career as a driver for Bumpy Johnston (played by Clarence Williams III), Harlem's biggest mob boss at the time. Bumpy dies within the first 5 minutes of the movie and Lucas takes over. Read On |
